CDIS Launches “The Badger Effect” Campaign: Empowering Future Technology Leaders

The School of Computer, Data & Information Sciences (CDIS) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is proud to announce the launch of “The Badger Effect,” a unique campaign aimed at empowering the next generation of technology leaders and supporting research and education at the intersection of technology and humanity.

The Badger Effect campaign comes at an important moment as CDIS prepares to open its new $260 million state-of-the-art building in 2025, completely privately funded. With $245 million already raised, CDIS is turning to its alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends to help complete this transformative project. Through this campaign, CDIS aims to pioneer cutting-edge research, cultivate visionary leaders, and impact the future of technology education.

At the heart of the campaign lies a captivating mosaic art installation that will serve as the donor wall in the new CDIS building. Unlike traditional donor walls, this mosaic will be a visual representation of the ripple effect that Badgers have when they come together. Each donor’s name will be incorporated into the mosaic, symbolizing the collective impact of the CDIS community.

“At CDIS, we believe in the power of collaboration and innovation to drive meaningful change,” said Tom Erickson, Founding Director at CDIS. “We are proud to offer donors a unique opportunity to be part of something truly special.”

The campaign seeks to raise $1 million through 500 donations of $2,019 each in honor of CDIS’ founding year. With only 500 tiles available, this limited-time campaign is a chance for donors to leave a tangible and lasting impact. Donations will support the construction of a new state-of-the-art building for CDIS, providing students and faculty with the resources they need to excel in the rapidly evolving field of technology.

“The Badger Effect campaign is about inclusivity and recognizing the collective power of our community,” said Shannon Timm, Director of Advancement at CDIS. “Every donation, no matter the size, will make a significant impact and help us achieve our goal of shaping the future of technology education.”

Donors who contribute $2,019 or more will have the opportunity to secure their place on the donor wall in the new CDIS building, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations of Badgers.
