Time has flown since construction began on Morgridge Hall in spring 2023. In a little over one year, our doors will open welcoming thousands of students, faculty, staff, and community members to a state-of-the-art facility designed to inspire innovation and collaboration. As the largest privately funded academic building in campus history, Morgridge Hall stands as a testament to our commitment to advancing education and research in the fields of computer, data, and information sciences, and we are thrilled to share the remarkable progress that has been made on this landmark project.
Project Milestones
- Morgridge Hall, the new School of Computer, Data & Information Sciences building, is named after alumni and visionary partners John and Tashia Morgridge, honoring their principal gift and decades of contributions to UW–Madison
- In March, Morgridge Hall topped out with the placement of the last steel beam. This milestone signifies the completion of the building’s superstructure.
Construction Progress
- 270 workers have logged 326,174 hours.
- The exterior of Morgridge Hall is almost complete, with 72,000 square feet of exterior paneling installed over the summer. In just a few weeks, nearly 1,300 panes of glass will be placed along with the installation of 5,000 Ultra High Performance Concrete Panels.
- The installation of elevators, door frames, hardware, and tiling will begin in early fall.
- The furniture selection process is underway, with a committee of School of Computer, Data & Information Sciences staff and faculty members testing furniture options for Morgridge Hall.
“It is amazing to see the progress happening weekly on the jobsite. The entire project team is committed to completing this complex project next summer for CDIS to start the 25-26’ academic year in their new collaborative space.” -Bo Muwahid, Project Manager, UW–Madison Facilities Planning & Management
