
Explore. Build. Create. This Summer.
SAIL (Summer of AI Laboratory), sponsored by the School of Computer, Data & Information Sciences (CDIS) and OpenAI, is a hands-on summer program for undergraduate college students at UW-Madison to explore and build open-ended projects using cutting-edge AI tools.
What You’ll Get
- Access to OpenAI’s tools (like ChatGPT, DALL·E, Codex & more)
- A small stipend
- Mentorship throughout the summer from local tech professionals, and managed by the N+1 institute
- Creative freedom to pursue your own ideas (with input from mentors)
- A final showcase workshop to present your project to the community
Who Should Apply?
Computer Sciences, Data Science, or Information Science majors who are:
- Curious about artificial intelligence
- Excited to build something real
- Ready to work independently and creatively over the summer
No prior deep AI experience is required—just motivation and ideas.
Program Details
When: Summer 2025 (8 weeks), starting mid-June
Where: In-person at the UW-Madison campus
Final Event: Live project showcase + networking workshop
